Discover Daoulas Abbey
It's a haven of peace, nestled in the heights of Daoulas. Here, the history and memory of the place mingle with the immense serenity you feel as you stroll through the gardens.
Daoulas Abbey is also a renowned cultural site in the Brest region, thanks to its eclectic annual program, open to all and, above all, open to the world.
The Abbey heritage site
Daoulas Abbey was founded at the beginning of the 12th century by the Canons Regular of the Order of Saint Augustine, who remained there until 1790. During this period, the site was maintained, enlarged and embellished, and today's site still bears many reminders of this splendor: the Romanesque cloister, the12th-century abbey church, the porch, the fountain, the oratory... During your visit, you'll be able to discover the full history of this exceptional site thanks to the interpretation panels.
Medicinal plant gardens
What makes Daoulas Abbey so special are its magnificent gardens, which have been awarded the "Jardin Remarquable" label. Spread over 5 hectares on two terraces, they are home to no fewer than 300 species of medicinal and aromatic plants from all over the world.
A remarkable garden
The walk is a real invitation to travel, an awakening of the senses, an almost meditative moment. Discover plants such as Atlas blue cedar, patchouli and tea tree. Continue the stroll through the medicinal tree garden, recently awarded the " Victoire d'or aux Victoires du paysage 2021".
Come and discover the new interpretation trail at Daoulas Abbey. Inaugurated in September 2022, this new tour route, punctuated by some 15 informative panels, offers the keys to understanding the history of the site and the medicinal plant garden.
The new tour is open to all.
