About us

At the gateway to the Monts d'Arrée, in Saint-Eloy, the Roc'h an Daol circuit takes you to the heights of a roc'h, a rocky spur.

Roc'h an Daol means "Rock of the Table". According to oral tradition, a sacrificial table was set up on this rocky promontory.

From the highest point, at 298m, you can enjoy a 360° view of the Ménez Hom to the south-west, Brest harbour to the west, the Monts d'Arrée chain to the north-east, and the village of Sizun with its bell tower to the north.

Itinerary
Step 1/6:

The tour starts from the hamlet of Létiez Huella in Saint-Eloy.
Parking is possible in the hamlet: take the 2nd road on the right and park on the right-hand side of the road. The path starts beside a monolithic well coping on the ground. Follow the path to the road.

Take 100 paces to the left along the track, then up a grassy path to the left. To admire the first view of Brest harbour, take the next track on the right, as far as the road. Retrace your steps and follow the path uphill, always straight ahead. Cross the various moorland landscapes.

At the next two junctions, go straight on, leaving the paths leading off to the left. Continue uphill, the landscape becoming more desert-like as you go.

At the foot of Roc'h an Daol, a discreet sign on the left indicates the summit.
Caution: steeper slope. Reach a pass, which you have to descend slightly. Follow a small path to the left, to climb to the highest point of the hike, at 298 m. From here, you have a breathtaking 360° view of the Ménez Hom to the south-west, Brest harbour to the west, the Monts d'Arrée to the north-east, and the village of Sizun with its bell tower to the north. Go back down the path.

At the intersection, turn left to continue downhill. Follow a dirt track and then, at two successive junctions, keep right to follow a stony path to the D130.

The descent

On the main road, turn left. Shortly before entering the hamlet, follow the small road to the right of the right-angle bend, in the direction of Létiez Izella. Continue along this road to Létiez Huella and return to the starting point.
