Linen, the blue treasure

Discover the heritage of the pays des Rives d'Armorique under a new light with linen trade. From the 13th century to the 19th century, the economy of the region was focused on linen trade, and more precisely on linen cloth which was wove in the countryside and brought to Landerneau. This prosperity enabled the construction of a large number of religious buildings, such as parish enclosures, shipowners' private mansions, notably in Landerneau. This activity was a true link between the city and the countryside. Nowadays, there are still traces of this activity: the "kanndis" (wash-houses) are dispersed in the countryside.
